Making Room
Is there room in your heart
For God to write His story?
“Make Room,” Casting Crowns
I always come to Christmas with the best of intentions. I come certain that my heart is ready.
But then I focus just a little too hard on my Christmas shopping list. And I plan just a few too many outings. And I decide to forgo the advent study so that we can make cookies. And I show up at church really only thinking about how "last year’s tree didn’t drop the ornaments like this year’s does"…
There are a lot of distractions!
And then every once in a while, a song or a bible verse will smack me in the face. And I have to stop and check myself.
One of those songs came on Monday morning as I drove for the groceries. One I hadn’t heard before. I couldn’t not hear the words- “Is there room in your heart? Is there room in your heart for God to write His story?”
My best intentions for the season so quickly run off track. Quite a lot of it lands on pride: I want to provide only the best to my family. What we eat, watch, do, sing, where we go, who we see.
And even what I share here with you. I was planning on sharing about the triplets' first Christmas. It's what I did the artwork for.
But I can't get that song out of my head. So rather than share more, I'm going to leave it here with the same question for you- Do you have room in your heart for God to write his story? It's sure to be a good one!
