Tuesday Breakfast Notes #36

Using my own gifts

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.

Colossians 3:23 NLT/NIV

I’m so grateful I get to be an artist! Art is an activity that makes me feel nearer to God. And I do think he uses it to speak to me.

Sometimes I hear Him in how a piece of artwork makes me feel.

Sometimes I hear art as a call to action. This year my Winter Animals Collection was just that. God gave me a vision of what I could make and then left the making to me.

In August as the girls went back to school, I could see farm animals adorned in winter wreaths. During the week of August 28, I painted those farm animals. And what came was a little animal family of 7.

You’re getting the first preview: Today’s artwork is Bernie. He’s a steer that lives with our friend Adalyn. I’ll be introducing another one of his friends each day over the next week. You can look forward to meeting Roxie the Highlander, Beezus the chicken, Jack the donkey, Rope the horse, a sheep and a piglet.

Thank you for being the first to meet my new artwork.

You might notice that Tuesday’s Breakfast Note is being posted a little earlier than usual. Today I was an artist. Tomorrow (Tuesday) I’ll be a substitute kindergarten teacher and I think if I’m going to work at it with all my heart, I better get on to bed!

At what will you be working this week, with all your heart for the Lord?
