But if we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.

Do you recognize Sylvia’s box? It came just as expected on Sunday afternoon.
To Sylvia, this wasn’t just any old Amazon box. She had asked her daddy for an early birthday present. (Ok. She asked me too, but I made Stephen decide!) Those 2 whole days we made her wait were just excruciating.
Sylvia and I found ourselves in the bathroom on Sunday morning at the end of church. And she was ready with all the questions:
-Who’s delivering my box?
-How will they get there?
-What color is their truck?
-What time will they come?
-Will it be here on time?
-Can I open it right away?
It’s not a new conversation. I think it hit me differently because we were at church. As I answered each of her questions, I found I was asking myself “Really, do I look for God and his provisions as expectantly and confidently as Sylvia is looking for the prime truck today?”
The next time we get a delivery truck headed down the driveway, I’ll probably giggle to myself as I pretend it’s God making a delivery to me, and consider all the important conversations that happen with my kids, in the bathroom.
